The DS sub- brand till these days has already grown hurriedly. The DS sub- brand now has spawn three models such as the DS3, DS4, and DS5. Furthermore, a report lately has spread widely that the French carmaker will expand its DS range.
Its will cover three new models in which the first model is expected to be a luxury flagship sedan. It will be based on the well- accepted Metropolis concept which was displayed at the Shanghai Show in the past year.
The large exclusive car is 5-3 m in length and only 1.4 m tall. The limousine concept form will be empowered by a hybrid powertrain which merge a 2.0 liter V6 petrol engine which an electric motor. As the result, the unit is able to produce a total output of 272 ponies.
Thomas d’Haussy who is the Citroen’s product planning chief stated that this best product model is intended to be offered for Chinese buyers and will not arrive in European market due to the failed PSA efforts in the luxury segment.
D’Haussy added that although the flagship will not be offered in Europe but its DS- badged city car will. The great success of the stylish Fiat 500 caused the Citroen’s management to consider an upmarket mini in view of the fact that there looks to be an enormous requirements for individual customizable city cars.
The DS- badged city car is expected to be built based on the second- generation C1 which is expected to launch at the upcoming year’s Paris Motor Show, only if Citroen has already give permission to do so.
D’Haussy also gives us clues that a hybrid may comes as the third model equipped with all- wheel drive version of the DS4 which employs the same powertrain as it used in the 3008 and DS5.
