Since the Prius has already became the copy of hybrids and a greenie vehicle, Toyota has been attempting to find out how to employ such technology to be used on its other models. However, now Toyota has its Lexus GS 450h 2013 model year which is claimed by the company as the ultimate hybrid luxury car.
The first- generation of the GS 450h was actually introduced some years ago. In the past 2006, the vehicle was introduced as the 2007 model year which was the company’s second hybrid and the first rear- wheel- drive hybrid. The company just earned as much 1,800 units sold out in the first year and even gone down in the following year. Lexus sold around 7,000 units in the past 2010 which was the four percent of total GS sales.
Now, the new GS 450h comes with totally new V6 engine and revamped hybrid system. With that source, the GS 450h 2013 model year is expected to deliver an improved fuel economy. Well, the company claimed the vehicle to be able to spend fuel economy at 31 mph in combined cycle, while on city rated at 29 mpg and on highway figured at 34 mph. it means the new GS deliver an enhanced fuel economy by 35 percent. The GS 450h is also able to sprint away from standstill to 60 miles per hour just in 5.6 seconds sprint time. It is indeed a better performance compared to that of the previous GS hybrid.
The buyers will be offered with a choice of three engine choices, including the 3.5 liter V6 which produces as much 303 ponies of power, a 4.6 liter V8 spawns output of 342 ponies and the last is a hybrid V6 with a combined output of 340 ponies. The hybrid is the top of the line model which displaces the old 3.5 liters and has been set to stand on the Atkinson cycle. The hybrid spawns a total output of 338, while the other non hybrid version deliver total output as much 306 hp.
The nickel- metal hydride batteries pack has been revamped in order to get more trunk space at 13.2 cubic feet. To improve cooling and achieve greater efficiency, the engineers have fixed an upgraded hybrid controller into the vehicle. Just like on the standard GS, the new hybrid is also available with a Sport mode and even completed with a Sport- Plus mode in the hybrid which offers more aggressive throttle response and tighter steering feel of the regular Sport mode, as well as strengthens up the shocks. The EV mode also can bee chosen on this new model which has been added with a traversing slush and snow button.
The exact price has not been unveiled yet until March next year, but the company estimates the vehicle will have a base price of $46,900 including $875 handling.
