Lately the General Motors has dropped itself in a slightly awkward situation. Well, the company has indeed confessed that some of the examples of this Detroit- based automaker might be missing an inside or outside front brake pad. Actually, the vehicle is actually a newly launched, the Chevrolet Sonic 2012 model year. so, how does this embarrassing accident happen?
The company stated that it realized that there is a problem on its new launched vehicle when a buyer brought a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic on November 29 and complained about the noises which come from the brakes. The automaker added that there are no crashes or injuries caused by the problem.
GM also has wrote a letter to the NHTSA or short of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated that a missing pad might happen in reduced brake system performance, increasing the risk of a crash.
Now, the General Motor officially issues a recall to as much 4,873 Chevrolet Sonic 2012 models which built from the second of June this year to November 21 2011, in which the United States got as much 4,296 and the rest, 577 units example were sold to Canadian customers.
The recall itself will be kicked off on or before the fourteen of January next year. the also company will warn the owners of the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic and asks the Chevrolet’s dealers to check the front brakes for a missing pad.
As the consequence, the company will install new inner and outer pads, a new brake caliper and a new rotor, if a brake of the Sonic is missing. The service will be free for the Sonic owners.
The safety recall on the 2012 Sonic is expected to begin on or before January 14, 2012.
