What is the global cheapest carmaker in the world? Yes, my answer comes to the Indian automaker. The Tata Nano is an Indian automotive industry which provides cheap cars ever.
Now India has had its own first sports car which is called DC Design’s Avanti. The DC Design’s Avanti initially was launched at the 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo.
The Avanti is a production ready sports car which will be built at the Tata Nano’s new plant located near its previous Prune facilities at Talagon. The Dilip Chhabria who is the former GM designer is the one who found the DC Design. The styling itself is mostly known for its one- off prototypes.
The Avanti is expected to be manufactured in as much 300 unit vehicles by 2013 to 2014 and if it runs as it expected, the company will add four figures to the yearly production.
Since the DC Design is just small- volume manufacturers, it will use parts derived from some carmakers, particularly for its powertrain and suspension system. As far as its conception and manufacturing process is concerned, the wheel of the Avanti actually does not change.
Based on the appearance of the Avanti prototype at the 2012 Auto Expo, it has been built in a lightweight yet strong spaceframe chassis, featuring different-length wishbones and coil over shock absorbers on both axles, 19-inch wheels with 255/35 front and 295/30 rear tires and 330 mm ventilated disc brakes with AP Racing calipers.
The mid mounted 2.0 liter turbocharged four- cylinder EcoBoost engine derived from Ford empowers the prototype. The unit is able to spawn output of 240 ponies and 366 Nm of torque. Due to the fact that the vehicle has already met the Euro 5 emissions regulations, the vehicle can be exported.
A six- speed manual gearbox from Ford transfers the power to the rear wheels. A dual clutch PowerShift transmission will also available as optional. The company has set a tag price for the Avanti at Rs 30 lakh or approximately US$56,000.
