Along with the W03, Mercedes- Benz also has unveiled the new SL 63 AMG roadster this morning presented by Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg at the Formula One test in Barcelona. The new SL 63 AMG is expected to have its first launch at this year Geneva Motor Show.
The new SL 63 AMG is empowered by the new M157 engine which is also employed on the other Mercedes versions, including the CLS 63 AMG sports saloon and the ML 63 AMG SUV.
In building the chassis, the automaker makes use of aluminum and magnesium which save the weight up to 275 pounds off over the previous model.
The 5.5 liter twin- turbocharged V8 provides the SL 63 AMG with a total output of 529 bhp and 590 lb- ft of torque. The unit enables the vehicle to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds sprint time, while reaching its top speed of 155 mph.
The automaker also provides an AMG Performance as optional which propels an output of 550bhp and 664 lb- ft of torque and able to accelerate from standstill to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds, arriving on its top speed of 186 mph.
A seven- speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission is mated into the unit that delivers the power into the rear wheels. Thanks to the lighter body, the vehicle is able in returning fuel consumption by 30 percent.
The package equipped on the vehicle also completed with braking system with six-piston calipers up front and single-piston calipers at the back along with a reworked suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels mounted in high-performance tires, and exclusive AMG touches on both its interior and exterior.
