In the upcoming Detroit Auto Show, the replacement for the old Jeep Liberty is expected to have its launch. And while the next- generation Jeep Liberty does its debut, the totally new Pentastar powertrain is expected to be fitted under the Jeep Liberty’s hood.
Based on what has been reported by an online automotive magazine Automotive News, Chrysler will empower the Liberty with a downsized 3.2 liter V6 that is coupled to a nine- speed automatic transmission derived from ZF. Actually the new 3.2 liter V6 pentastar that displaces the 3.6 liters has been well- accepted by both critics and buyers when it was mounted into the refreshed Dodge Journey and fitted to the new Chrysler 300.
Sergio Marchionnne who is the Chrysler Group CEO stated that the engineers has reused the AN since transmissions have an important role in the development of engines. He said that the company might have made the 3.6 liter Pentastar a 3.2 liter if they had known the eight- speed was coming.
At this time, the 3.7 liter SOHC V6 is the unit used by the Liberty. The 3.7 liter is good for a total output of 210 ponies and 235 pound- feet of torque. the unit is mated with a four- speed automatic transmission. on the other hand the new 3.2 liter/ nine- speed combo will definitely improve the vehicle’s performance.
That’s all about the next- generation Jeep Liberty. The details on the overall efficiency and fuel economy as well as with the power specification are not yet to be released. However, we will make you updated with any further information that may be released a few weeks later closer to the Liberty’s launch.
