At the New York Auto Show, Mercedes commemorated the very important event that marks the AMG brand’s 45th birthday. In order to celebrate the brand’s anniversary, Mercedes- Benz brought a special anniversary edition of the V12- powered SL 65 AMG roadster. The special edition is expected to have its first delivery at November for the U.S buyers. Sadly only 45 units vehicle will be manufactured.
Compared to its sibling, the SL 65 AMG 45th Anniversary boasts a range of bespoke features and parts such as an exclusive matte grey finish dubbed with ‘Designo magno graphite’.
An extensive use of carbon fiber kit is employed on the car’s exterior. The package covers the cross strut in the front apron, the exterior mirrors and the spoiler lip. The same material also used for the engine’s cover.
Black chrome plating of the quad tailpipes completes the car’s appearance added with the exclusive forged wheels finished in titanium grey with high-sheen rim flange and matt finish that are coupled with 255/35 R 19 sized tire at the front and 285/30 R 20 at the rear.
The special Anniversary edition benefit from the same 6.0 liter twin- turbocharged V12 engine that is able to deliver 621 ponies of power and 1,000 Nm of peak torque. Actually the same unit is also used under the hood of the regular SL 65 AMG.
Moving inside the car, our eyes will be attracted with a two- tone leather interior finished in titanium grey pearl and ginger beige. In addition, a diamond pattern theme decorates the center sections of the seats, door panels and roof lining. Other eye catching features are the matt carbon fiber trim and the”45th Anniversary” logo attached on the astray.
Driving Assistance package Plus, AMG ceramic high-performance compound brake system and a higher end audio system are all offered on the special edition version of the SL as well.
