On Thursday, a bunch of Viaggio leaked images had hit the web. However, now Fiat decided to release the official photos completed with the car’s initial details.
the Viaggio will arrive on Chinese market this fall, following its global preview at this year Beijing International Auto Show on Monday, April 23rd. the name of the car itself means journey in Italian, while in China the Voyage will dubbed as Fei Xiang that means flying.
The Viaggio retains the brand’s new CUSW or Compact US Wide platform that was initially designed for the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and is developed based on the 2013 Dodge Dart.
In term of dimension, the Viaggio is a little bigger compared to the Dart. While the Italian Automaker claimed Viaggio is a compact sedan like the Ford Focus, its exterior dimensions easily suggests that it is sitting between the C and D segments, such as the Opel Insignia or the Buick Regal. One thing that distinguished the Viaggio from the Dart is the revamped front fascia and rear end.
Chinese buyers can choose a choice of two 1.4 liter T- Jet turbocharged petrol engines that are good for 120 ponies and 150 horses respectively. Each unit is mated to either 5 speed manual transmission or the newly developed Dual Dry Cluth Transmission.
The vehicle is the first car that is produced by Fiat in conjunction with the Guangzhou Automobile Group in the GAC- Fiat World Class Manufacturing plant in Changsha. Although the company has capacity of 170,000 cars annually, Fiat stated that it can double the capacity up to 300,000 cars per year.
In July, the first production car will be manufactured, although the company has not made it official yet. In addition, some reports said that the Viaggio could be exported to some European countries. The company is also planning for a five- door hatchback that may be introduced next year.
