Do you remember Infiniti’s confession when it launched the Emerg- E concept at the Geneva Motor Show? Yes, the company was so honest to admit that indeed they made use of a Lotus- derived powertrain to be fitted on their vehicle. Well, based on the recent reports the two companies in fact now are working closer together more than we have expected.
It was stated by an online magazine, Car and Driver that the Infiniti Emerg- E concept is riding on the same platform that is also used on the Lotus Evora. Well, the company has also stated that the vehicle in fact borrowed its styling design and structure from the Lotus Evora and the development of it was held in Europe. Due to that, it allowed the company to get funding that would help them to decrease the Emerg- e concept’s development cost from Great Britain’s Technology Strategy Board, a government agency formed to support the development of new technologies that reduce vehicular carbon emissions.
In addition, most of the materials used are in fact already in production so that Infiniti could take the benefit of it since the development of the Emerg- E will be relatively ease. Commenting to this possibility, the company executives also have already gave cues that hinted at this options. However, in order for testing purposes, some reports also said that the company would build two prototypes.
