In Los Angeles Auto Show back in 2010, the pure electric Toyota RAV4 had made its first public appearance and now, at the 26th edition of the International Electric Vehicle Symposium or EVS26 that will be held on May 7th, the car will have its global debut.
In developing the new RAV4 EV, the Japanese automaker works in conjunction with Tesla motor as the supplier of its electric driveline, such as the battery, motor, transmission and power electronics. Before shipped to the company’s Canadian facility for the final development, the RAV4’s electric powertrains at the company’s production plant in Palo Alto.
The electric version of the RAV4 is measured at 220 lbs heavier than that of the V6 model. However, it retains the same acceleration number and time.
Knowing that in the past 1997 the Japanese automaker had manufactured an electric variant of the first generation RAV4 in the States, it means that the new RAV4 EV is indeed not the first production version. At that time, as much 1,500 unit examples of the electric SUVC were sold out in the U.S. and till this time, nearly half of them are still used.
So far, that’s all the information about the new RAV4 EV. However, it seems that the company will likely to announce the final product specifications of the RAV4 EV along with the markets where it will be launched and also possible the pricing soon. Therefore, you should stay tune in this web for any further information that will be published immediately.
