Once again, Audi has managed in grabbing the chequered flag at the most popular Le Mans 24 hours endurance race. So far, it is the second consecutive year and the 11th time in the last 13 years for Audi. The victory is achieved with the drivers Marcel Fassler (CH), André Lotterer (D) and Benoît Tréluyer (F) who ride the R18 e- tron Quattro beautifully.
Audi R18 e-tron Quattro is the first Audi’s diesel- hybrid car who wins the Sarthe circuit. While in the past 2011, the company also had got the top spot with its diesel vehicle.
It was a very bad luck for the Audi’s competitor, Toyota, as the two Audi R18 e- tron Quattro diesel- hybrids and the two traditionally diesel- powered R18 series got an edge in the race with Audi stood in the first position with the R18 e- tron, second with R18 e- tron, the third with the R18 Ultra and the fifth position with the R18 Ultra.
The German company board member Rupert Stadler stated that the engineers of Audi have already proven their high technological capability in an especially remarkable way by the achievement reached at the globe’s most important endurance race lately. He added that the company has applied a totally new technological means on the grid of the Audi e- tron Quattro with the combination of ultra- lightweight design.
The No.12 Rebellion Racing Lola Toyota of Neel Jani Nicolas Prost- Nick Heidfeld had made the top six that finished in fourth place, while the No.22 JRM Motorsport HPD ARX-03a of David Brabham, Peter Dumbreck and Karun Chandhok came in the six place.
