We have already seen the next 918 Spyder doing testing some months ago. The prototype was still wrapped in many kinds of Martini Racing- themed monochromatic covers. Yet, now Porsche is said has made an agreement with the Martini brand to build a racing livery for the production model of the 918 Spyder that is expected to arrive on sale in September next year. Porsche has set a price tag of €645,000 or about US$789,900 at today’s exchange rates for a unit of the 918 Spyder. Take a note that the price is excluding taxes and country- specific charges.
Just to remind you, actually, since the past 1971, Porsche and Martini had made its journey with the Porsche 917 that was managed in lapping the famed endurance race in Le Mans supported by Martini. Since that point, Martini became the official partner of the Porsche racing team for five years.
The company also stated that the 918 Spyder is now entering the next stages of driving tests in order to fine tune the hybrid supercar. The test itself is conducted on the legendary 20.8 km or 12.93 miles long Nurburgring- Nordschleife race circuit.
Compared to the Carrera GT that is managed in achieving a lap time of 7.32 minutes, the 918 Spyder is expected to be at least ten seconds quicker for a total time of seven minutes and twenty two seconds.
The Spyder is completed with some features including the car’s fully variable aerodynamics, adaptive rear axle steering and “top pipes” exhaust system that routes the pipes upwards. It is empowered by a mid- mounted 4.6 liter V8 internal combustion engine along with electric drives placed at the rear and front axles that deliver a total output of about 762 ponies or equal to 770 PS of power.
