Lately, Volkswagen has just made some changes for its midsize pickup truck for the 2013 model year. Among the other changes, the company has also enhanced diesel powertrain along with new comfort features, an improved trailer capacity and a comprehensive 12 warranty for corrosion perforation.
There are two models offered, manual and automatic models. The first one is empowered by a 2.0 liter BiTurbo TDI that churns an improved output from 161 horses to 177 ponies. It means that the manual produces the same output as it of the automatic model. Although the power is increased, the company claimed that the car is still delivering the same CO2 emission.
In addition, the company’s BlueMotion that was first offered on the automatic only, now is available for the automatic, that includes start/stop, regenerative braking and tires with optimized rolling. It is completed with the 121hp (122PS) and 177hp (180PS) manual with a choice of either rear-wheel drive system or the permanent four-wheel drive variant.
It is claimed that the car saves about 0.5 liters of fuel per a hundred kilometers and 179 g/km CO2 emission. Thanks to the application of the BlueMotion Technology package then. Furthermore, now the 2013 model year is able to accommodate 3 tones for the all- four wheel drive with manual transmission. On the other hand the automatic model can tow for a maximum weight of 3.2 tones.
What’s more? Well, more importantly the reworked tailgate that now can be locked is capable in carrying loads of more than 200 kilos or around 441 pounds. The Amarok new model year is cost at €19,835 for the 121 hp single cab and €22,610 for the similar 121 hp double cab.
With such prices, the German automaker has also added some extras such as the Amarok’s equipment range that includes a standard ParkPilot system in the Trendline and Highline models, an optional Light and Sight package with a rain sensor, automatic headlight control, follow me home function and an automatic anti-dazzle interior mirror, along with a new cornering light system.
