While Ford is busy preparing for next-gen CD4 vehicle, the Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ in America and the Ford Mondeo in the market to start, the Blue Oval team has been tasked to develop a hybrid Ford Fusion and reduce fuel consumption of gas-electric.

A report from Ford indicates that the Fusion Hybrid will be revised powertrain, and allows the car to be fuel efficient by using the e-CVT trans, the result is fuel economy rating all the way up to 47 and 48 miles per gallon. If the reports are true, then Ford has increased more than 41 mpg, and has clearly become the leading class of hybrid cars. Because Lincoln MKZ Hybrid jgua using the same hardware, this means the MKZ also gets mpg identical values like the Fusion.

The next-gen Ford Fusion Hybrid should be launched in early 2012, with the debut of the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid likely pushed back a bit further.
