At the first this month, the all new 2012 Barina hatch has been unveiled by Holden on Australian international Motor Show opening. This release follows Holden’s international unveiling around the end of last year as the Chevrolet Aveo or dubbed Sonic in particular markets.
The next generation Barina comes and hit a quite new area for the iconic small Holden as it being sold from October this year. Mike Devereux, the Holden boss stated on a particular newspaper launched at the beginning of this week that the new model comes in stylish and properly desirable small car being different from the recent Barina which is described as utilitarian car. He added that the new model represents a real development of Barina, futuristic designed and completed with experienced safety features. The attractive design of the all new Barina will enable itself to deliver and meet the needs of Australian small car drivers.
Holden admits the slow sales rate of the recent Barina and this automotive company remains retaining the Chevrolet Aveo’s design shown on the appearance of the new Barina, maintained the American brand’s dual port grille but put the Holden’s familiar lion badge to replace the Chevrolet bowtie.
The new Barina is done by skillful Holden design Ondrej Koromhaz engineers at GM’s South Korean design centre. The new vehicle is designed to appeal both men and women consumers.
Unfortunately, holden has not revealed the full specifications of the mechanical features such as power plant and performance figures yet. However the company has stated a four cylinder 1.6 liter petrol engine will empower the new Barina, paired to a five-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed automatic.
Some safety features completed the new Barina includes electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes, brake assist, electronic brake force distribution and traction control. Six airbags also included. The cabin also equipped with Bluetooth phone and audio streaming, USB and iPod connectivity, cruise control and steering-mounted audio controls as the standard features.
In the cabin, the Barina’s standard features will include Bluetooth phone and audio streaming, USB and iPod connectivity, cruise control and steering-mounted audio controls. The price of new Barina has not been revealed yet and estimated to be announced closer to launch.
