This right-hand-drive version of 2012 Subaru Impreza had made its debut at this week’s Australian International Motor Show. Apparently, there has no word announced by Subaru on its local launch schedule related to the pricing or date sale of its new Impreza models. However, it is estimated that new Subaru Impreza will go on sale in late of 2011 or in the early of 2012.
The consumers will be offered the 2012 Impreza in both sedan and hatch version. The 2.0 liter version of Subaru’s new third generation boxer engine will empower either sedan or hatch. The 2.0 liter engine will be mated with a six-speed manual transmission or with Subaru’s newly-updated Lineartronic CVT automatic transmission which is for the first time mounted in the Impreza. A six speed manual mode with steering wheel paddle shifters also equipped both versions along with the CVT transmission.
That engine produces a same account of power to the previous engine at 110 kW and 196 Nm of torque. Although Subaru stated that a prominent improvement in fuel consumption will be made, the figure has not been announced yet.
Subaru also take the benefit of the AIMS event, showing its new EyeSight technology. That unit is designed, when a danger is detected, to start a number of advanced active, passive and preventative systems by employing a compact unit of small stereo cameras placed close to the rear-view mirror.
Later this year, the new EyeSight technology is planned to debut on Australian coming along with Liberty and Outback version. A potential new Impreza based on XV concept crossover also arrives on display at Subaru’s AIMS stand. The XV comes in concept of unpainted black lower bumper and black wheel arch guards, along with metallic roof rails.
