Peugeot 508 line-up, the 2012 508 RXH is now offering a new high riding performance and hybrid powertrain. The RXH employs Peugeot’s Hybri4 technology which is the first time paired to the 508 line-up, mounted to a 120 kW 2.0 liter HDi FAP diesel engine with a 28 kW electric motor. 450 Nm of torque is produced by combining the units.

Furthermore, the RXH is also the first model in 508 line up with an all wheel drive layout. The diesel engine powering the front wheels and the power is delivered trough the electric motor to the rear.

The hybrid powertrain enable the 508 RXH to deliver combined cycle fuel consumption at 4.3 l/100 km. it is better than the diesel engine in its regular non hybrid powertrain which deliver fuel consumption figures of 5.7 l/km.

A unique colour-coded version of Peugeot’s new dual-port grille design completed with a redesigned front bumper along with three columns of LED lights at each end decorate the styling front of the RXH. In order to show a soft roader off-road performance, the RXH receives wheel arch extensions and skirting gunmetal-finished, and chrome roof rails.
The official debut of 508 RXH will be held on September’s Frankfurt Motor Show. However, the vehicle is managed to arrive in European showrooms at the beginning of next year.

It is estimated that Australian models will probably cost between Subaru Outback around $38,490 to $55,990 and the Audi A6 Allroad about $103,714. However, the European pricing has not announced yet.

Peugeot Australia’s Kirin Tipping said that the company will not reveal 508 RXH availability and timing too early and will first focus on launching the 508 sedan and wagon in non hybrid version. Ms. Tipping also stated that the RXH will only internationally available in Hybrid4 diesel-electric drivetrain although the regular 508 line-up in Australia will come on a range of petrol and diesel engines.
