Now we has been given an opportunity to glance at the new Subaru based 9-6 model for the first time. However that prototype is not exactly what the next production version of the 9-6 will look like. Saab had planed in 2005 to launch a Saab 9-6 SUV based on the Subaru Tribeca. Yet due to General Motors selling its 20 per cent stakes in Fuji Heavy Industries (Subaru) in 2005, the production of the Saab 9-6 has to be delayed. Now, in Saab’s museum Trollhattan, a concept version of Saab 9-6 has just been unveiled.

Several weeks ago, Saab had confirmed that the three new models including Saab 9-1, 9-6 and 9-7 would be introduced. Saab itself stated that the 9-6 will be managed to enter the luxury end of the SUV market. Maybe the 9-6 will enter the production in such luxury model.

The CEO of Zhejiang Youngman Lotus Automobile which is a part owner of Saab, Mr. Pang Qingnian stated on a source that the Saab 9-6 and the next Saab 9-7 would be a key to improve the prestige of the Saab brand especially in Chinese and US markets.

The Saab 9-4 will equipped in all- wheel drive drivetrain but it has not been announced whether the new Saab will use the ‘X’ letter in the end of the name or not.

Saab has decided to change the model version from 9-6 based Tribeca to the 9-6 based 9-2X to market. The company now split from its former America, working to build an all- new 9-6X SUV in conjunction with Chinese and Russian investor.

According to the report on the Saab website, the 9-6 is most likely arrive in SUV models. The 9-6X will probably share a lot of the same thing with the new 9-4X due later this year in Australia. Steve Wade who is the former of Save Saab stated that the three door version of the 9-6 is stored on the Saab museum.
