The debut of the 2012 Prius Plug- in Hybrid Electic Vehicle or PHEV will be soon held just a couple days later on September 15th at the Frankfurt Motor Show, following its details and an image revealing earlier by Toyota. Toyota hopes the Prius PHEV will be the flagship of the Prius range since the Prius PHEV is the newest model in the company’s Hybrid Synergy Drive technology.
The developed Prius PHEV features the latest addition, a compact lithium ion- battery which is said to be able to offer a 13 mile electric only range, then after that the Prius turn back to hybrid mode which works just like other standard Prius. The Prius needs as much as 1.5 hours to recharge the power with a 240 volt outlet while 3 hours with a 120 volt unit. Toyota claimed that the Prius PHEV is capable to travel at 475 miles away between fill-ups under the right driving conditions. However, the EPA mileage numbers have yet to be announced.
The exterior of the Prius PHEV features ‘plug- in hybrid’ fender badges in order to differentiate the car from other regular Prius. Other features are a redesigned front fascia and unique wheels. However, the details could change at any time before the car’s official US introduction. Just check it again, for more details on its debut on September 15th.
The Prius PHEV due in America with a total of 15 launch states, such as Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia and Washington. Toyota said that the vehicle have to be available around spring next year. The car is estimated to be available in all other states in 2013.
